Just got back from the Banff Centre in Canada, where I took part in the residency “La Commune. Die Bühne. The Asylum” with Althea Thauberger and had a wonderful and very productive time completing a couple of new projects. More on those coming very soon.

Online petition in response to the planned “Achievement Show of Young Berlin Art”
228 Berliner Künstler und Künstlerinnen sowie Akteure und Akteurinnen auf dem Feld der Berliner Kunst haben im Januar einen offenen Brief an den Kultursenator und Regierenden Bürgermeister Klaus Wowereit (SPD) unterzeichnet. Die Petition bezieht Stellung zu Wowereits Plänen für die „Leistungsschau junger Kunst aus Berlin“ im Sommer und zur Kulturpolitik im Bereich bildende Kunst.
228 artists and cultural producers from Berlin signed an open letter to Berlin’s Mayor Klaus Wowereit in response to his plans for an “Achievement Show of Young Berlin Art” which it takes as a basis for addressing some of the pertinent problems with the cultural politics of Berlin in more general terms.

I recently started my PhD in Practice at the Vienna Art Academy. I will be there for four years conducting the long-term artist research project “Talking about an Oblique Lenin. An Artistic Investigation into the Experience of Historical Critical or Dissident Practices within the Socialisms of Eastern Europe”
Seit Oktober 2010 bin in Teilnehmerin des PhD-in-Practice-Programms an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Wien. Ich werde in diesem Rahmen das vierjährige künstlerische Forschungsprojekt “Wie über einen schiefen Lenin sprechen? Künstlerisch-theoretisches Dissertationsvorhaben zur Erfahrung historischer, kritischer Praktiken innerhalb der Staatsozialismen Osteuropas als Raum der Bestreitung” durchführen.

I was happy to contribute material from my work on the Central Round Table of the GDR to two workshops this year, the Workshop “Der Zentrale Runde Tisch” at Shedhalle, Zurich, 13/24 July 2010 and “Der Vorstand konstituiert sich/ The Board Constitutes Itself” at Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, Innsbruck. Workshop anhand der Wortprotokolle des Zentralen Runden Tischs der DDR
Im offenen Workshop werden Auszüge aus den Protokollen des Zentralen Runden Tisches der DDR gemeinsam gelesen, bearbeitet, befragt und teils aufgeführt. Das Unterbrechen des Gelesenen, das Diskutieren während eines Cold Readings, einer unvorbereiteten Bühnenprobe, eröffnet vielleicht jenen Raum, der sich in den Prozessen des Institutionalisierens und der Historisierung dieser Dokumente zu verschließen droht. Ein Gespräch mit Sophia Bickhardt am 24. Juli um 19 Uhr greift Diskussionspunkte aus der Textarbeit auf und erweitert sie um die doppelte Perspektive der Zeitzeugin und Historikerin.

Workshop using transcripts of the Central Round Table of the GDR
An open workshop using excerpts from the transcripts of the meetings of the Round Table of the GDR, which are collectively read, re-worked, questioned and partially performed. Can this process of an interrupted reading, of discussing excerpts in a cold reading, of performing an impromptu rehearsal, open the space of potentiality that was closed in the processes of institutionalisation and closure that accompanied the production and later the historization of these documents?
The workshop at Shedhalle was followed by a talk with Sophia Bickhardt who described and contextualised the practice of the Round Tables speaking both as historian and protagonist / participant of the Round Table in Leipzig.
